Distance Learning Option
Enhancing Basic Skills from Home
“Enhancing Basic Skills from Home” is a distance learning option available to students who would like to improve their basic skills in reading, writing, and math but cannot attend classes on a regular basis because of work or family obligations. Students in this program can also work towards a high school diploma. As a family literacy program, “Enhancing Basic Skills from Home” also includes a parenting component for students with children. However, students do not have to be parents to participate in this distance learning option.
Students who choose this option borrow videos and instructional materials to study reading, math, writing, and parenting skills (if appropriate) at home at their own pace. Each week, they return during a scheduled class time for a one-hour, one-on-one session with an instructor who reviews their work and gives them their next assignment. This program is for motivated intermediate-level students only.
Students who are interested in this program must take a placement test. See registration times or call Cheryl at (410)772-4991 ext. 7143 for more information.
