Christine Witmer

ESL Full-Time Instructor
Biography
Hi! I just began as a full-time instructor at Howard Community College, and I teach a variety of classes here. I love teaching English, meeting students, and finding out about all the many cultures! Before coming here, I was living in Philadelphia and taught ESL at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University in the intensive programs. Before teaching ESL to adults, I taught children for 11 years. For seven years, I taught Deaf children in Philadelphia through sign language. Also, for one year, I lived and taught fourth grade in San Jose, Costa Rica.
I love traveling and adventure, and I’ve traveled to many countries: China, New Zealand, Australia, and many countries throughout Europe. While traveling, I like to try new activities: skydiving, hang gliding, cliff jumping, and snorkeling.
I grew up in Washington County, Maryland (about an hour away), where my family still lives. I love spending time with them, hanging out with friends, and doing anything on the water.
Hope to see you in my class!
