Biography

Sara Nathan was born in Philadelphia and moved to Columbia when she was three. She graduated from Centennial High School in Ellicott City in 1990. She studied Chinese at the University of Wisconsin and earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She worked at a newspaper reporter for five years, most recently at USA TODAY. She studied teaching English as a second language at the University of Maryland. She has traveled in China, France, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, India and Israel. She speaks French, Chinese and Spanish. She lives in Silver Spring with her husband and two sons.
