Learn ASL visual-gestural communication techniques, visual discrimination, and visual memory exercises. ASL questions, commands, and simple sentences are featured. Sign Language II
This course is designed to continue lessons in finger spelling, sending and receiving signs, and interaction with the deaf community. Prerequisite: Sign Language I or 24 hours of instruction. NOTE: Laurel College Center classes use different texts and class formats. (T) 2.4 CEUs. $150

Mandarin Chinese
Mandarin Chinese focuses on correct pronunciation and sound recognition. This course involves intensive listening, comprehension, and speaking skills, and an overview of the phonetics of standard Mandarin Chinese. Basic grammar, character recognition, conversation, geography, and cultural topics are introduced. This course is for students with no former training in Mandarin. Community Spanish
This course is a survival guide for English speakers to speak and understand small amounts of general and basic Spanish found in most routine interchanges in daily life with Spanish speakers. You will also learn basic cultural information about Spanish-speaking groups. You will not have to study grammar or learn verb conjugations, but you will learn basic phrases through intensive drills and repetition. This is a fun and lively class that will give you basic language skills to use when interacting with the ever-growing Latino population.
