It is extremely important to nurture and foster various relationships throughout the stressful wedding planning process. This course will help you, regardless of your role, to build and retain great relationships from beginning to end of the planning process. Stepping Out of Grief
Have you been able to reconcile yourself to a loss of a spouse through death or divorce, loss of job, loss of friend, or loss of house? If so, this class will help you take your next steps. What is grief, and how have you successfully coped with it? Where are you now in life? Where are you going, and how will you get there? Reflecting on what has happened in life will project you into assessing where you are now, and where you want to go. This is an experiential, hands-on course using Frederick Hudson's Cycle of Renewal as a foundation for examining and planning. The grief experienced at the loss of a loved one is often compounded by having to face the challenges of multiple financial decisions along with new and sometimes unexpected realities. The average age of widowhood in the U.S. is 55. Whether you have just gone through this experience and are still trying to cope with these issues, have questions about how to review your current situation, or would just like to have a general overview of what to expect, you will find ideas and resources to help you negotiate this sometimes confusing landscape. Care Planning for Aging Family Members: Residential Facilities *NEW!*
Care planning can be a real challenge when decisions need to be made about what type of living arrangement is most appropriate for an elderly family member who may need assistance. Don't wait until there is an emergency to learn about the differences between an assisted living facility and a long-term care nursing facility. Topics include: services provided in each facility, moving into a facility, dietary needs, health/personal care, living arrangements, and activities. This is an informational class; no legal or medical advice will be given. Handouts will be included. Instructor Sharon Powdrill, MSW, has experience working in a variety of care-giving settings. She will also address what you should look for when visiting a facility and the type of documents needed by residents of either facility. $29**
