"The benefits of instruction in Command Spanish are certainly due to the content of the curriculum but most especially to the proficiency of the instructor, Marcela Phillips.  All participants believe that the course was more than just the curriculum because Mrs. Phillips provided them with insight into the culture as they learned important ‘tidbits’ about the Hispanic culture.  We feel we now have a vital connection to our Hispanic students, and they are excited seeing their teachers as students.  Additionally, it has helped improve both communication and rapport with our students and their parents. 

' Weekly lessons were practical, interactive (loved the use of music), and fun.  The pace of the lessons was brisk without being overwhelming.  The technique of using a say/repeat pattern for phrases was also very effective.  Mrs. Phillips  incorporated games, personal stories and skits to keep us motivated.

The Command Spanish curriculum is teacher-centered and provides work-specific phrases.  The structure of the materials with phonetic spellings as well as the inclusion of the CD is also useful.  With little exception the content is also applicable to community/neighborhood interaction."
