Creative Cartooning for Creative Kids
Ages 7-12. Learn to draw basic comic strips complete with color, word bubbles, lettering and learning skills like drawing people, animals, and inanimate objects. Inspirations will come from famous cartoonist artists and artist styles. This is not about copying the teacher's cartoons, but rather about learning skills and using your imagination to create art! Creative Drawing for Creative Kids
Ages 7-12. Abrakadoodle takes basic drawing to a whole new level by incorporating drawing into the creative process. Inspirations come from Dog Mountain, Vermont, home to artist Stephen Huneck who creates friendly, curious dogs, all the way to Japan, where artist Takashi Muradami has rock star status as the creator of cartoon characters. Through Abrakadoodle's unique Drawsters program, children learn skills that will last them a lifetime and help their imaginations take flight. They learn about contour drawing, patterning and font design, cartooning, and other drawing techniques. Each series builds confidence and creativity while exploring fun and interesting artists and artist styles. Lights, Camera, Action: Moviemaking
Ages 8-11. Computers, Cameras, and Art--what a perfect combination for creative kids! Working in teams of 2-3, students in this limited enrollment class do it all- from story creation to making the characters & sets. As they learn the production process, they will design and compose using a storyboard, animate, record, download, assemble, and edit their own movies. Fun, learning and excitement go hand in hand with production. This class is offered in cooperation with Computer Explorers(TM). 1 week $150 (includes $30 materials fee*)

Ultimate Ride
Ages 7-10. It's your turn. You finally get a chance to design and build the roller coaster of your dreams! If that includes exciting, hair-raising drops and corkscrew turns or a long gentle ride through interesting scenery, you get to decide. After you have finished building your coaster using state-of-the-art computer programming, you will actually get to see what the coaster will feel like from a variety of positions within or outside the car. Design, build, and virtually ride a roller coaster that is just right for you! This class is offered in cooperation with Computer Explorers. $159 (includes $15 materials fee*)

Creative Writing for Middle School
Ages 11-14. This course is designed to teach students to develop a writing style that will convey ideas to readers in a clear, interesting manner. Photoshop Phun
Ages 11-14. You can do amazing things with Photoshop: you can put your head on someone else's body, transfer your picture into a picture of Mt. Everest, or put yourself on a surfboard in Hawaii. Using up-to-date software, learn important features for digital image enhancement, photo retouching (such as taking the red eye out of photos or lightening and darkening a picture), and image compositioning. Bring your digital camera and cables if you have them, but they are not required. Parental permission for the student to access the Internet is required. $130 (includes $5 materials fee*)

Critical Thinking for Middle School
Ages 11-14. Critical thinking goes beyond the basics of identifying main ideas and obvious details. Critical thinking incorporates analysis, evaluation, divergent thinking, and deductive reasoning. Life Science for Middle School Students
Ages 11-15. Taught in a science lab on the HCC campus, this course will introduce students to the study of life science. Students will utilize a microscope to study cell structure and organelles, be exposed to atomic structure and the PH of materials around us, and study ecology by exploring food chains and webs. Psychology for High School
Ages 14 and above. This is the first of two semesters of an Introduction to Psychology class designed for high school homeschoolers who are seriously preparing for college. This course will cover psychology as a science, biological perspective, sensation and perception, sleep and dreams, learning, memory, and development. Independent study at home and successful completion of homework assignments, quizzes and tests are required for students wishing to satisfy a full high school credit and receive a letter grade and teacher recommendation for their home school portfolio. $220
