FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Creative Problem Solving
Grades 3-5. Who says learning math can't be fun? Learn various problem-solving strategies to solve mathematical problems. Discover similar methods that can applied to different situations, and practice these strategies using worksheets, puzzles, games, and hands-on materials to improve your math proficiency. You will utilize patterns, models, pictures/diagrams, logical deduction, guess and test, organized lists, writing equations, and working backward. Enjoy the small class and individual attention. $109

Basic Drawing for Students
Ages 7-12. All young people doodle and copy. Channel this drive into the fundamentals of drawing like composition, perspective, light, shadow, and texture. Learn the basic shapes and how they can become anything you imagine. Turn a sphere into an orange, or an alien face. Learn to see with an artist's eye in pattern and designs. Draw from photos, still life and landscapes. Bring a sketch pad, 6B pencils, and a kneaded eraser to class. $89

Tandem Cooking: a Class for Parent and Child *NEW!*
Ages 8-13. This class encourages students and parents to work together to prepare delicious and practical dishes. This class teaches students how to cook great tasting, nutritious and well balanced food. Activities include lessons on how to shop, cooking techniques, and safe food handling in a fun family-bonding environment. Taught by a certified executive chef from the HCC Culinary Arts program. $159 (includes $40 materials fee*)

Manga for Students
Ages 11-14. Learn how to develop Japanese Manga (comic book) art. Create Manga characters, develop a storyline, and lay out comic pages. Practice penciling, inking, and lettering techniques. This course is meant for the student who has some experience with these unique comic book characters. Work with an award-winning local artist with specialized experience in the field. Ages 12-16. Get introduced to the game design process and the software available that can be used to create your own computer games. Study examples of various game genres including platform, adventure, and maze games, and look at a range of games created with the Game Maker™ software. Design and develop your own computer games. Merge a variety of media to create a complete game that can be played by friends and posted on the Internet. Medical Science - Part II
Ages 12-15. Potential doctors and nurses will be intrigued by investigating organic specimens in this course. Examine the basics of biology and health issues with an emphasis on anatomy. The marvels of the human body and the power of medical knowledge are the right "prescription" for learning. Part two of a two part course, students will focus on the following systems: respiratory, digestive, urinary, reproductive, and endocrine. This is a hands-on science applications class meant to be an enrichment opportunity for the inquisitive and focused learner. Due to many dissection activities, you must have a good attitude and strictly observe instructor's guidelines.
